APC MEMBERSHIP REVALIDATION/REGISTRATION EXERCISE: THE LATEST NIGHTMARE OF OPPOSITION PDP IN IMO

Just this afternoon, the attention of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter was drawn to another mischievous publication from the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP), spiced with very pedestrian, ridiculous and unfounded allegations, fraudlently skewed up to undermine our ongoing membership revalidation and registration exercise in the state.

An obviously confused and disoriented Imo PDP in their midday hallucination and frustration attempted to discredit the popularity of APC in the state, with their usual blatant falsehoods, designed to imping the soaring integrity  of our party and it's leadership. It is regrettable that the remnants of the highly decimated PDP has continued to underestimate and undermine the sensibility of an average Imolite.

Imo PDP came down all time low, even beyond our estimation, when they alleged in the said publication that "The APC is also desperate to procure members at all cost with such false claims as, "the exercise will be used for the payment of unemployment benefits, sharing of proceeds from Abacha loot, and crediting of accounts of Nigerians under federal government's empowerment programs." Who could have ever believed that PDP in the State will be this ridiculous and bereft of critical thinkers and rational minds? What a manifestation of cluelessness and daftness. It has became evident that Imo PDP as presently constituted is analytically bankrupt.

We have come to the conclusion that the leadership of PDP have suddenly realized that they are on a journey to an inescapable extinction with the prevailing acclivious strides of APC in Imo State in particular and South East in general.

As a serious minded political party, we would have ignored entirely these worthless allegations as contained in the publication as they could be best described as a combined manifestations of frustration, confusion and desperation. But however, for the purpose of clarity we wish to state as follows:

1. That Imolites are well educated and informed people that understand the difference between Census enumeration, INEC voter card registration and party membership revalidation and registration exercises. The allegation that Imo People are being misled into APC registration for INEC registration is most regrettable, unwarranted and pitiable.

2. That Imolites are one of most politically  enlightened people in Nigeria is to say the least obvious and as such does not need the unholy alarm of Imo PDP to understand the difference between party registration exercise and social empowerment programme. Imo PDP should stop insulting our people, Imolites are not what they think they are!

3. We clearly understand the frustration of PDP with our ongoing membership revalidation and registration exercise. Contrary to their thought, Imo people have continued to demonstrate their enthusiasm with the APC brand in the state as the exercise has continued to receive the influx of prominent Imolites, including former members of PDP into our party.

4. Furthermore, we understand that the success so far recorded by the exercise across all polling units in the state has become a source of nightmare and frustration for the leadership of PDP in state, whose chances of extinction in the state is so high, hence their effort to undermine the process.

5. We sincerely sympathize with the PDP leadership for their party's loss of vibrancy, attraction and appeal for our people as Imolites have demonstrated in an unshakable term their solidarity for our party, the APC, under the leadership of our governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.

6. That contrary to the allegations as contained in their publication, APC has no such plan to either hoodwink or manipulate any person or group of persons into joining our party, rather we are proud to state that the overwhelming goodwill of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and the inclusive leadership skills of our indefatigable State Chairman, Prince Marcillinus Nlemigbo have continued to attract Imolites to our great party.

7. Finally, we wish to use this opportunity to express our unalloyed gratitude to Imo people for coming out en mass to embrace our party once again through the ongoing membership drive, as we call on those who have not done theirs due to unavailability of registration materials to exercise patience as the party makes effort for the provision of additional materials. We reassure our teeming members of our continued commitment to the founding ideals of our great party, APC.
