THE HOST COMMUNITIES OF NIGERIA (PRODUCING OIL & GAS) HOSTCON IMO STATE BEGINS SCREENING OF THE SURVEILLANCE GROUP AT IMO YOUTH CENTRE

BY HON. BENARD TOCHUKWU IKEJE

Sequel to the recent vandalization of Oil  pipelines in the various Oil and Gas producing communities  in Nigeria, a renowned grass root mass movement founded to advocate for the right and privileges that are associated with Oil and Gas Exploration (HOSCON) in collaboration with the State government yesterday Thursday 25th March, 2021 gathered to sensitize her teeming youths the  involvement of the government on  preparation of the  surveillance group to  enhance adequate security targeted at protecting lives and properties of all the host communities of Imo State and maintain equity in empowering her disgruntled youths who have been shortchanged by the host companies. Oil pipeline surveillance and Amnesty has never been easy to achieve since her existence in Imo State until our God sent Governor Distinguished Senator Hope Odidika Uzodimma came on board and today we can proudly say Imo State HOSCON has come to stay and benefit what other sister states benefit in terms of subventions.

Earlier yesterday , the Host Communities Of Nigeria (Producing Oil And Gas) HOSCON, held a sensitization campaign at Imo Youth Centre, beside Concord Hotel Owerri.

During the opening remarks of this epoch-making event, the State executive and government facilitators of HOSCON Imo State Chapter were officially introduced by Hon. Omaai Innocent T. N the spokesperson.

In the light of the foregoing, delegates ranging from the Chairman of the Occasion to special guests of honour were present and ably represented, to mention but few among others were; Barr. I. E Oguaju Dike a legal luminary in Oil extraction involvement ably represented by Hon. Omaai Innocent T. N,  Hon. Chief Mrs. Tina A. Ekwueme-Adike(Esq.) (AKAEPUCHIONWA) former APC National Woman Leader who double as the Imo State Coordinator of HOSCON and National Liaison Imo State,

H.R.M Eze E.I Okeke (Chairman of Imo State Traditional Institution and Community Policing),  among others.

On a memory lane, CHIEF MRS. TINA  (AKAEPUCHIONWA)  narrated the uncompromised stance and resilent  disposition of HOSCON during the previous regimes when she and other members were nurturing the movement at Abuja involving the nine (9) Oil producing States which Imo State was ranked among highest Oil and gas producing area, later the movement gained approval by His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari and it's board members soon to be made commission by  federal government.

Moreover, she added that all concerted efforts and cooperation with His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma was geared towards the welfare of the oil producing communities, and to improve the meagre standard of living of Imolites in general, who are privileged to be numbered among oil producing states in Niger Delta.

To narrow down matters arising, for the purpose of edifying the subconscious minds of the  mammoth crowd that was present, Hon Barr. I. E Oguaju Dike the facilitator ably represented by the  spokesperson HOSCON Hon. Omaai Innocent reiterated that Imo State members of HOSCON should stand on transparency, in order to utilize efficiently any subvention that emanates from the federal government, to render  egalitarian opportunities to Imo indigenes of the Host Communities, to ensure human capacity building.  Which is imperative to curb the harmful effects of oil pollution and destabilization of the ecosystem in our region.

"Therefore, gone are the days our natural oil resources were sabotaged and profligated at our own detriment," he opined.

Emphatically, Hon. Omaai posited that it is time to change the narratives of the story *OIL AT MY BACKYARD*(written by INNO EJIKE), by which we are being exploited and forsaken by the Host Companies.

On that note, he commended His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma for standing on the ground of credibility, to work in synergy with HOSCON in order to drive home developmental projects in the Host Communities (producing oil and gas) in the State.

Consequently, while addressing press men in a press conference, Hon. Omaai Innocent T. N the spokesman of HOSCON IMO STATE CHAPTER, elucidated on the gross marginalization of Host Communities who are being denied their communal rights by the Host Companies  extracting oil and gas therein, therefore he commended the government of President Muhammadu Buhari (P.M.B) at the federal government level, for approving the commissioning of the board in all the Niger Delta States.

Which is a welcome development to resuscitate the moribund state of the Host Communities (Producing Oil & Gas) in Nigeria.

To that end, the representative of HRM Eze Dr. E I Okeke assured the audience that HOSCON IMO STATE CHAPTER is unequivocally dedicated to achieve sustainable development in the Host Communities, and deliver on it's mandate as an interventionist, with the unalloyed backup of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, our dear Governor.
