The Akachi road has been of significant importance to both motorists and pedestrians. It is a connecting road that links wetheral road to the Aba-Owerri road hence, pivotal to the socio-economic development of the state.
This road after its construction by the previous administration in the state began to take another form and gradually became deplorable hindering both human and vehicular movements. Of course, all economic activity was brought to an abrupt halt and was left without any government intervention.
The Shared Prosperity administration of Gov. Hope Uzodimma didn’t waste time in getting to work on that road and this he did by mobilizing contractors to site with the required funds and ensuring that the best materials were used in other to avoid any form of wear and tear or "patch-patch" work on that road as done by his predecessors. The scenery has become a site to behold coupled with the aesthetics which makes it a topnotch and globally accepted standard.
Thankfully, just within one year in office, Gov. Hope Uzodimma amongst many other road construction projects embarked upon was able to reconstruct the Akachi road to a new modern road with strong concrete drainage system and as at today a cause for joy to Imolites especially those living and trading in that area.
Today, the visit of the Senate President, Sen. Ahmed Lawan to commission this road is a clear pointer that the achievements of Gov. Hope Uzodimma is well noticed by many Nigerians and shows how prudent he has been in managing the meager resources available to him.
Remarkably, the renaming of Akachi road to Evans Enwerem, a foremost politician who rose to the rank of a former Senate President and former Governor of Imo State is an act to honour to the Late statesman and to immortalize him for posterity purpose.
In all, we are grateful to Gov. Hope Uzodimma who understands that government is a continuum and has constantly demonstrated his political maturity in making sure all the roads in imo state wears a new look irrespective of the government that constructed or earmarked for construction.
