The Managing Director (MD) of the National Inland Water Authority (NIWA), Chief George Moghalu, on Wednesday, officially joins the November 2021 Anambra governorship election race, under the platform of the All Progressive Congress APC.
Chief Dr George Moghalu disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the State APC Secretariat, shortly after his meeting with the State Executive to officially inform them of his intention to fly the party ticket.
The APC Chieftain explained that he visited the State Secretariat to seek their support for the coming APC governorship primaries and to support him to win the main election.
Tracing his political trajectory, when he served in Abia State, as consultant to National Fertiliser Distribution Company, Chairman of NIGCOMSAT and currently as NIWA boss, Chief Moghalu stated that he had proven himself as one who has the capacity to mobilise the potentials, including man and resources for economic transformation, growth, and well-being of humanity.
He maintained within one year, He has brought NIWA to a limelight and has also brought a lot of economic prosperity for the South East with the recent economic activities at Onitsha River Port and recent activation of Oguta River Port which has been moribund for the past 14 years.
He stated that the governorship election would be a tough contest, and, urged all members of the party to brace up to the challenges of working for the party's victory, advising particularly his co-aspirants to desist from name calling, but, to sell their ambitions by explaining to the people what they intend to do for the State if elected.
Chief Dr George Moghalu urged the party to ensure that a person with impeccable pedigree was chosen as Party's candidate of the party in the forthcoming election.
"It is instructive to state here that from past records, election in Anambra has largely been won by the consensus of political elites. Therefore only a non-divisive candidate, a person who is generally acceptable across all political parties stands a chance of winning the coming governorship election. In addition, governance is a big and important business, therefore to be a governor, you must have the capacity to accommodate everybody or at least give them a listening ear.
As a Party man, Chief Dr George Moghalu donated 11 Sienna buses to the Party for Mobility and functionality in the State and various Local Government area.
Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Basil Ejidike described Moghalu as consistent and loyal party man, and, praised him for the support he had been giving APC in the State.
Members of the State Working Committee who spoke at the Event, The State Woman Leader and State Secretary described Chief Dr George Moghalu as consistent and a loyal party man, while praising him for his humility, loyalty and continued support to APC in the State, zone and local Government and prayed that God will reward him this time with Party Ticket.
