GOVERNOR UMAHI'S DEFECTION TO THE APC: RELAUNCHING THE SOUTHEAST GEOPOLITICAL ZONE TO THE CENTRE STAGE OF NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS!

There are leaders and there are leaders. Not everyone who occupies  leadership position is a leader in the true sense. A leader must therefore possess awesome qualities that endear him to the people. This is where Governor Umahi is exceedingly exceptional!

It takes a leader with great charisma, clout, carriage and courage to sway and influence compliance, support and loyalty from majority of the people. Governor Umahi is amply in possession of these leverages.

Since his defection to the ruling APC, Governor Umahi's uncommon magnetic force has been drawing eminent politicians from the Southeast into the APC and relaunching the Igbo nation to the centre of government and politics in Nigeria as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe of the NCNC did at Nigerian independence  in 1960.

The heavyweight politicians and technocrats from the Southeast who have defected to the APC, following Governor Umahi's earlier defection are men of character, integrity and great followership. Their roll call is intimidating: His Excellency, Chief Austin Umahi(Ochiagha Ndi Igbo worldwide), former National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Southeast Zone, Gen.Ihejirika(rtd), former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Chief Sam Onuigbo, Abia State Hon. Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Chief Simeon Eze, former aide to President Olusegun Obasanjo, former two terms governor of Enugu State, Chief Sullivan Chime.

Others are: Chief Victor Dimkpa, a retired Customs Controller, Chief Osita Chidoka, former Aviation Minister and erstwhile FRSC boss, Barr. Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, former Ebonyi State PDP Chairman; he defected with all the former 13 Local Government and Ward Executives of the PDP, etc.

With this overwhelming gale of defection, including the ones their declarations are still being awaited like that of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, the Southeast is set to be relaunched to the centre courtesy of Governor Umahi. 

Indeed, it is apt to conclude that Governor Umahi is the Zik of our time and clime. May he take the Southeast the centre, come 2023 as Zik did for the Eastern Region in 1960.
