Imo State has vast potentials for profitable investment. These include large market, skilled and resourceful manpower, mineral and agricultural products for industrial processing. Regrettable these potentialities have not been adequately harnessed because of low investible capital. In the building materials industry opportunities exist for the manufacture of roofing, wall and floor tiles.
Barr. Doris Akubuo, the Commissioner for culture and creative arts said that plant for the factory has a rated capacity of 600,000sq. metres of 12,000 tonnes of floor 3 wall tiles per annum. The site measures about 8,820 hectares and certificate of occupancy obtained.
About 80% of the materials needed to set-up the factory building is needed, She Said.
Special Adviser to the Governor on National Assembly matters and Ecological fund, Hon Austin Nwachukwu added that the project has great prospect if it can be realized through privatization.
The leader of NISS delegation pledged their support to sustain the plan of the state government to resuscitate the factory, he said the raw materials are locally available and there is extensive market for the product among the building industry, he concluded.
Present at the inspection are; S.A to the Governor on Culture and tourism, Chief Agugbue Odionyemma and other directors from the Ministry.
