Imo State Government has emphasized its readiness to ensure that Global Memorandum of Understanding ( GMoU ) signed between oil companies and host communities are implemented to the later.
The State Commissioner for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Chuck O.N Chukwuemeka made this emphasis in his address during the opening ceremony for the negotiation of a Global Memorandum of Understanding between communities in Asa and ANOH Gas Processing Company, a subsidiary of Seplat Oil Company at Rockview Hotel, Owerri April 22nd 2021.
He appreciated Seplat for being the only oil company operating in Imo State which has its office in the state capital and assured the management of the willingness of the government to continue to provide enabling environment for them and other companies operating in the state.
The Commissioner gave assurance that the state government will participate actively to ensure implementation of the GMoU and made it clear that the idea of divide and rule or selfishness in the issue with oil companies will not be tolerated.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Oil and Gas Matters, Rt. Hon Goodluck Nana Opiah expressed joy at the opportunity to commence the GMoU discussion.
Opiah expressed optimism that the impending agreement to be signed with ANOH Gas Company will be implemented, judging by the antecedents of its parent company, Seplat.
In his address, the Managing Director of ANOH Gas Processing Company, Mr. Ikechukwu Mbah said the company was in the domestic gas business to sell gas to customers in Nigeria.
He disclosed that the company had already signed two GMoU's in the area and promised that the terms of the agreement when signed, will be implemented to the later and this also will not be their only commitments to their host communities.
