IMO STATE PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT: SALARY PAYMENT Get Your Facts Right, Imo Government Chides Sam Daddy Anyanwu

Imo State government yesterday accused Senator Samuel Anyanwu of malice and mischief.

Anyanwu had alleged in a statement by his media office that the government was busy constructing roads to the detriment of payment of salaries.

But Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Declan Emelumba said the former senator should get his facts right before commenting on issues that are beyond his competence.

According to Emelumba, the government is not actually indebted to any of its valid staff.

Emelumba disclosed  that as at the end of March this year, the government has paid 39, 795 of the total workforce of 40,722.

Only 927 workers out of this total are having issues with their salaries because they have account number releted issues, adding however that most of them have been resolved.

Emelumba asked Senator Anyanwu to visit the government website at payroll @ imostate.gov.ng which is public knowledge instead recycling rumours fuelled by detractors of the government.

On Anyanwu's allegation that government was slashing salaries, the Commissioner stated that the government has not slashed any workers salary.

Instead he said, some workers colluded with with accounts officers will embark on self promotion and salary hick. Naturally those who indulged in such illegality had to be reverted to their legitimate salaries.

Emelumba insisted that the government has been up to date salary payment.
