▪Reiterates Governor Uzodimma's Desire For Functional Health Systems
As part of his efforts to get the health systems in the state working effectively, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Berthlomew Okorochukwu has embarked on tours of Health facilities across the state.
Speaking at the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, Imo Primary Health Care Development Agency, Imo Health Insurance Agency, Health Management Board, and the Emergency Operations Unit respectively, Dr. Okorochukwu said the essence of the exercise was to familiarize with them, look at the equipments on ground, understand their challenges, look into it and proffer solutions for them in order to meet the health needs of the citizens and to compete favourably with others outside the state.
Dr. Okorochukwu informed the health workers that Governor Hope Uzodimma is determined to ensure that Imo has functional Specialist, General hospitals and primary health care centres with state of the art equipments.
He urged the management and staff of health institutions in the state not to be demoralized by present challenges, but to rather assist the government to upscale the health systems in the state for the benefit of Imo citizens.
The Health Commissioner promised to look into the regularization of salaries of some staff, and requested that they should look inwards to generate funds as well as make efforts to attract partners to assist the government.
