CENSUS PLAYS IMPORTANT ROLE IN EVERY POLITICAL DECISION ~Opiah.
Traditional rulers has been charged to take upcoming census program seriously. Ohaji-Egbema IMC Chairman Hon.Prince Marcel Amadioha said this, Thursday 15th April, 2021, in a well attended enlarged stakeholders meeting held at the council headquarters Mmahu Egbema, for the resumption of Enumeration Area Demarcation In Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta, Oru-West LGAs Imo State.
The Council Chairman said; A team of the National Population Commission NPC, will commence the Enumeration Demarcation Exercise (EAD Phase 14) in Ohaji-Egbema in Preparation for the National Housing and Population Census. Go home and sensitize your people, the time to think of becoming the biggest constituency is now, everything gears towards population, The EAD is the first and most important stage in the three stages of the census which is pre-Cencus, Census and Post-Cencus.
When the team of NPC arrives, we will provide them with shelter, electricity, security, food and necessary assistance needed for them to carry out their job extensively in Ohaji-Egbema. This program will determine the success of the main census scheduled to hold around August this year. I want to beg us to see this as our project, this is not time to play politics, tell everyone to contribute meaningfully so that at the end of the program the team of NPC will provide us with much better result.
In his speech the Special Adviser/Coordinator Oil and Gas Matters to the Governor, *Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah* stated that the important of the meeting is that we will go home tell our people and get prepared for the team of the NPC. Our enormous responsibility is that as leaders and traditional rulers it will be on record and serve as an achievement in future. I encourage you to distinguish yourself in this program. The importance of It is that it will help in future political decision.
Opiah said; the census provides a suitable database for comparisons and projections of demographic data as well as social and economic characteristics of society. It provides a database needed to study specific social phenomena to provide basic data for all sectors in the country such as education, health, population etc..
