It was excitement galore as the new Commissioners for Science and Technology, Prof. Boniface Nworgu. paid an unscheduled visit to the Imo College of Advanced Professional Studies ICAPS, to ascertain the state of the parastatal and look at possible ways to make the place function maximally.
Addressing the staff of ICAPS, Prof Nworgu noted with admiration that his predecessor appeared to have done a lot of ground work and promised to improve on the laudable projects and ideas initiated by the immediate past commissioner.
He stated that continuity in government is essential for any progressive minded administrator. "There ought not to be any form of discontinuity in government, the idea of reinventing the wheel or starting on a clean state should be jettisoned. All programmes started by my predecessor which is inline with the vision of the shared prosperity government will be continued, those that requires fine tuning will be fine tuned and I will equally eject fresh ideas to make ICAPS first amongst equals within the region". He opined.
Prof.Nworgu tasked the heads of the various departments to come up with proposals on how to commercialize most of the products produced in the place and promised that he will ensure that all needed to fast track the process is done speedily.
He thanked those who were part of the ministry's team at the just concluded 2021 Technology and Innovation Expo for making the state proud by coming second in the whole Federation.
The commissioner equally met with staff of Imo Job Centre and promise to revive the place and help them attain the lofty ideals of which they were created for.
It will be recalled that the commissioner on assumption of office had a meeting with staff of the ministry were he solicited for the support of the staff and management of the ministry to help him in achieving his vision of making the ministry the life wire of the state. He stated that everything, ranging from Agric, Health, Commerce, Education,Works etc now leverage on technology to survive.Therefore, the ministry must not be found wanting.
The staff and management of ICAPS and Imo Job center thanked the commissioner for the visit and promised to put in their best to towards achieving his lofty ideas to move the ministry and its parasatals forward.They assured the commissioner of their loyalty and dedication to service.
