While addressing newsmen in a press conference, the state commissioner for information Hon. Declan Emelumba said “IMO people should ignore the messages making the rounds in the social media, asking people to stay at home on Saturday, May 29th and Sunday May 30th respectively. Imo people and residents should disregard these messages as they have no consequence whatsoever. They should go about their normal business without any fear of molestation.”

He assured the people that “the government has put all necessary security measures in place to ensure the safety and freedom of movement of all Imo people in these dates and after”.

The government debunked the rumors making the round that the state government has ordered the killing of Imo youths saying there is no truth in such rumors as they were meant to inflame the polity.

The commissioner also noted that the state government has successfully returned normalcy to the state stressing that people should go about their normal businesses without any fear of molestation as measures have been adequately put in place to safeguard life and property of Imo people and all residents.

The government appealed to parents to rein in their children and wards against being used as cannon fodders as those using them would not use their own children to perpetuate disturbances against the state.
