At some stage in a man's socioeconomic and political metamorphosis, envy will surely set in. Governor Umahi has never been so envied. In fact, available statistics show that he is the most envied Governor in Nigeria; a record that has kept him moving and moving to the top of his political career.
The APC too as a political party has never been so envied by the PDP particularly in Ebonyi State where Governor Umahi has become its solid fulcrum or should we say; its rock of Gibraltar? Our dear Governor is a strong man; he draws his strength from the almighty God whom he serves and adores with the highest reverence.
One may ask; what informs this envy on Governor Umahi and the APC? The answer is not farfetched. The APC has survived the evil propaganda and lies against it particularly in Southern Nigeria; hence the PDP propagandists are shocked at the rate Southern politicians particularly sitting Governors of the PDP were embracing the APC. It was Governor Umahi of the Southeast geopolitical zone who set the pace for others to follow. Today, His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade, the Governor of Crossriver State has dumped the PDP for APC and many others are warming up to follow suit.
Indeed, in contemporary Nigerian party politics, Governor Umahi is the pride of APC. He had proven to be a man of courage and had demonstrated enough commitment towards stabilizing and consolidating the APC in Ebonyi State. Femi Adesina, SA to President Buhari on Media and Publicity describes Governor Umahi as a man with the heart of a lion who had done what Napoleon couldn't do. No truth can be far from that.
Now, PDP leaders and stakeholders in Ebonyi State are driven by envy as they think they can rubbish the hard earned reputation of Governor Umahi by their endless and useless press releases and press conferences where they raise baseless allegations and lies against the Governor. The latest is the National Assembly cafeteria nonsensical press briefing by the so-called NASS caucus of Ebonyi PDP led by Sam Egwu, a former Governor of the State.
Consequently, an envious Egwu who ought to hide his head in shame for taking Ebonyi State several years backwards as pioneer Executive Governor of the State, got the greatest bashing and lashing of his life from Ebonyians; so were others with him in the opprobrious cafeteria press conference.
Of a truth, he whom God has blessed, no man can curse. God has so blessed Governor Umahi for his good works in Ebonyi State and there is nothing anybody can do about it. One million Egwus, Anyims, Ogbas, Odefas and the rest of them can never stop Governor Umahi's speedy political ascendancy to the apogee of the Nigerian polity.
