"I want to, on behalf of the Government of Imo State, welcome leaders and citizens of Ideato North here, and to commend you for seeing it fit to honour this call. I have listened to all the speakers...There is nothing that you have said that I don't know, because I am one of you. All I am praying is for God's energy to address all these problems.
When I came into office last year, one of the first sites I visited was the Urualla Erosion site. I visited because the contract was awarded at N10B. The amount of work done was 19% and the amount of work paid was 60%. Things were disjointed - When I went to the road that was supposed to have being done, and the extent of work on ground, I saw a different thing. I had to summon the contractor and told him that he won't be paid if he doesn't work. I called the World Bank to take their loan if the contractor does not work. Just few days ago, I learnt that the contractor has gone back to work. I am not here to look for money. I am here to serve my people.
I thank you all for coming. On insecurity, I have the responsibility as a Governor to protect everyone. It is an oath I took... We can't sit and fold our hands and watch bandits take over our state. Our people must move around in peace. Our people should trust us.
People are playing politics with security... but we are here to protect our people.
The most important thing for us is security. You can he hungry and not die, but when you don't have security, it is worse. Security is key and that is why we will ensure that IMO is secure. I am not going to negotiate with bandits and hoodlums.
Please go and be with your people. Tell them to maintain peace and not cause problem under different guise.
We cannot build a theatre of war in Imo State...We will use the government for the good of the people. We will work as a government to make things right even if it means reaching out to the Federal Government.
Let us work together irrespective of our parties. "Nwanne Nwosu wu Nwosu".
Come together, let us work for our state. No sleeping on duty. The government belongs to us all.
Whether you are Camp Hope or APC, or APGA, we are one. Join hands let us move our state forward. We are making progress.
Let the communities organize themselves. We have our vigilante and our Traditional Rulers. We will support them and know who to hold responsible. Go home and take charge. We need to stop watching people destroy our facilities.
We are ready to respond to any security gap. We are serious right now. The government has risen. Don't be afraid. We will call anyone supporting insecurity and unrest to order.
We need to avoid greed. Let us go for what we need and leave what we don't need.
Let the political class and leaders organize their communities very well. Imo belongs to us all. I am open at all times.
Ndewonu.
