This revelation was made by Engr. Lams Ibe when the Committee on mobilization, monitoring and evaluation led by the Speaker IMHA Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem visited Owerri North LGA on a fact finding mission on monday 17th may, 2021 at the council headquarters.
Addressing select leaders and political appointees from Owerri North, the Speaker said his Committee are like the biblical "John the Baptist", the forerunner of the governor of IMO State in this case. He said they have come to make crooked parts straight, to foster peace and reconciliation among all the stakeholders preparatory to the visit of His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma to Owerri North.
Responding the IMC Chairman of Owerri North LGA Engr. Lams Ibe said his people are at peace with each other, and above all has the capacity to settle their differences internally. He reassured the Committee that Owerri north will fully cooperate with Uzodinma's administration.
Barr. Chief Tony Umezuruike (Aririerimba), spoke on the uniqueness of Owerri North with the arrays of Political juggernauts and power brokers which might give rise to occasional power play. He said decisions in Owerri north goes a long way to shape events in Imo State. He however praised the caliber of personalities in the Committee, as evidence of the importance the governor attached to the Committee work. He informed the Speaker and his Committee that Owerri north leaders has resolved to work in harmony under the apex leadership of Prince Lemmy Akakem.
In his contribution, Barr. Chima Anozie expressed reservations on the appointment of Town Union Presidents (PGS). He however on the peace index, rated Owerri North 80% which the Committee members scored an "A" and declared it one of the best in Imo State.
Other Speakers like Chief Mike Nwachukwu (Mpidike), Chief Mrs Anne Dozie, Hon. Paddy Obinna and Dr. Iyke Njoku spoke in the same vain.
Addressing the issue of town union presidents, the Speaker said the creation of PGS, Women and youth leaders are deliberate policies of government and in the mind of the governor, they are the grassroot mobilizers of the party and the eye of government in their various Communities. He therefore charged them to take full control of their Communities.
In conclusion the Speaker Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem expressed happiness over the warm reception by people of people of Owerri North, he also felt mission accomplished by the self assessment of the critical stakeholders of the party. He said Owerri North LGA is indeed the best.
