May I on behalf of my dear family and members of staff of the Department of Parks Development congratulate our indefatigable governor on the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day celebration.
You have indeed continued to blaze the trail in all spheres of governance in Ebonyi State. The litany of your achievements are visible even to the blind and the doubting Thomases. You have changed our ugly narratives as a backyard state to one of the most sought-after state in Nigeria through massive infrastructural development and urban renewal policy.
The marvel of your administration is anchored on quality assurance, maintenance culture and consistency. You not only dazzle the Abakaliki metropolis with magnificent projects, aesthetic designs, durable network of roads crisscrossing all its nooks and crannies but you consistently illuminated the town with street lights while ensuring that it is the cleanest capital city in Nigeria.
A tour of our rural areas reveal pleasant surprises as each local government is connected to its headquarters with at least two kilometers of roads on concrete pavements and street lights. The thirteen general hospitals in our local government have also been given the Midas touch including other projects being executed by our irrepressible governor.
You have reenacted the School Sports and academic competitions in our schools. There is no need reeling out the consequential advantages of this move as it is glaring. There has been a massive renovation, reconstruction and rehabilitation of our schools across the thirteen local government areas and the provision of needed manpower. It is therefore safe to conclude that you have repositioned our education sector.
Your Excellency, it is of major concern to all well meaning Nigerians that insecurity is currently threatening the very foundation of our dear nation. However, you have tackled the challenges head-on here in Ebonyi State. You have employed different strategies to combat this hydra headed monster through prompt response to calls on security challenges, engagement of our youths and other stakeholders on a round table conference. What is more, the launching of Ebube Agu security outfit is a masterstroke to the war against insecurity in Ebonyi State. You have continued to lead the vanguard of peace and dialogue as a panacea to the Myriads of challenges facing us both individually and collectively. After all as the saying goes : it is better to jaw jaw than to war war.
The greatest of all your achievements is the construction of the Abakaliki Ring Road which has commenced. This no doubt will open up the rural areas, creating limitless opportunities thereby reducing rural urban migration. The advantages are legion. Farm produce will have appreciable value as there would be ready markets for them. Youth restiveness will become a thing of the past among other avalanche of utilitarian values.
Your Excellency, I must commend you for creating the platform for the training of future leaders. It is on record that your administration has involved the highest number of youths in the governing process through massive appointments into positions of trust. You have always employed merits in your appointments instead of mediocrity. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve.
As we celebrate the Democracy Day, I humbly roll out the drums in adulating an uncommon transformer, a rare gift to Ebonyi State and Nigeria. I pray God to grant our country the reprieve of good leadership in 2023 as he has graciously done to Ebonyi State.
