For too long, Anambra has wandered in the bush. The State is in dire search of a man who will put it back on the main road, and plant its foot on the road to Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey.
As the State nicknamed “Light of the Nation” holds her election later this year to elect a new helmsman that will steer its ship; the prayer of all sincere men and those who love the state is for the election of a man that pertains to her peace.
Obviously, Anambra is on the look for a man with the heart for men, particularly the poor and downtrodden. A man that will diversify the state's economy without paying lip service. Embark on massive infrastructural development, and make the money of the state work for her citizens, change its picture and do the necessary overhaul. A true leader that will be at the vanguard of the efforts, to not only foster economic recovery but to reposition the state entirely as an innovators’ haven.
Today, many are hustling to take charge of Government House, Agu-Awka and lead the state unconcernedly with the mindset to open the state freebies for themselves. If truth must be told, not minding whose ox is gored, no one stands a better chance to lead the state effectively and efficiently in 2021 than Chief Dr George Nnadubem Moghalu, for several reasons.
Chief Dr. Moghalu, is a man who reflect all that is noble, decent, godly and inspiring about humanity, and believe in the redemption of the state. From the point of those who have been groomed via the political process to lead Anambra State, Chief stands taller than other aspirants. He is amongst the few politicians in Anambra State that have been actively involved in politics at the national level since the return of democracy in 1999.
The other reason, which derives from the above, is that Moghalu, who hails from Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, is a man of integrity with a long history of loyalty to party and country. Starting out in 1999 at the return of democratic governance in the country, Moghalu served as the National Secretary of the defunct All Peoples Party, (APP), which later became All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP).
George Moghalu became the National Secretary of the party which later changed to All Nigeria Peoples Party(ANPP). The party had nine Governors under their belt with an equally solid National Chairman in Alhaji Yusuf Ali. This unbreakable and uncompromising pair of hands lifted the ANPP to a respectable height in Nigeria during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration. George as a man with zero tolerance for tribalism of any sort and as the National Secretary of the defunct ANPP wielded the party together as a united force under the leadership of Yusuf Ali.
He later became the governorship candidate of the ANPP in the 2003 governorship election in Anambra State, the same political party of the incumbent president of Nigeria, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. It's on record that in the days of Candidate Muhammadu Buhari in 2003, it was in the house of Chief Dr Moghalu that he took respite, resting awhile before embarking on other party functions elsewhere. No wonder, he is the best considered candidate of the APC stock, because the same ANPP later became a legacy integral party that formed APC (All Progressives Congress).
More so, as governorship candidate of ANPP in 2003, the Nnewi-born politician had the opportunity to work closely with the late Senator Chuba Okadigbo, Oyi of Oyi, former Senate President of Nigeria and a running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari in the 2003 presidential election.
After that, Ohamadike, as he is fondly called, remained in ANPP until the party joined forces with other political parties such as Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) to form the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.
Again in 2014 during the formation of the APC brand as a political party, he was appointed as Member/Secretary of the ANPP Merger Committee under the Chairmanship of His Excellency, Alhaji Shekarau, the former 2-time Governor of Kano State. He was also appointed a member of the Central Merger Committee of the ANPP that midwifed the birth, registration and inauguration of APC. It was not a surprise that he was also elected as the party’s National Auditor, a post he held until the dissolution of the National Working Committee. With his integrity, high administrative skills and operating acumen, George was also appointed as the Chairman, Board of Directors of the Federal government owned Nigeria Communication, Satellite Company Limited(NIGCOMSAT).
So, you can see the nexus and understand the direction we are pointing at? Good! To be frank and modest, it is not surprising that Ohamadike is the best for the number one political stool in Anambra State because Moghalu's political profile depicts consistency and loyalty, which is lacking in the system. Especially in Anambra state and even in a country where politicians cross from one party to another with effortless ease or no legal consequences, Moghalu has distinguished himself from the crowd as a party loyalist without compare. His politics of consistency and loyalty, many say, is needed in a place like Anambra State.
Ndi Anambra need someone like Moghalu who will be consistent in his decisions not the type that will make promises and renege on them almost the next day, not the type that will betray people's trust in him and not the type that will tell lies when he speaks.
Ohamadike is a gentle man, a consummate partyman and a good spirited philanthropist who does not wait till election year to identify and appreciate people, party men and non-partymen alike. He shares with whatever he has with people season-in, season-out.
Chief Dr. George Moghalu, the Ohamadike of Nnewi, Okenwa of Ihiala is the man who has what it takes in overdose to lead the state to its rightful position in Nigeria. He is tested and trusted. A man who can be trusted with power and won't misuse it. Very accountable. Caring. Unobstructive, with a heart for the poor and downtrodden. In him, we see humility. A realization of the ephemeralness of power and of life itself. That is the kind of a leader the people wish to have at Government House, Agu Awka. A man that will restore Anambra state to a truly great state respected all over the world for its exploit in all endeavours that meets the aspirations of her citizens and earns the respect of the world.
With George’s midas touch from the heydays, Anambra will thrive again.
When one look at his deft footwork at the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) where he holds sway as the Managing Director of the frontline Transport Ministry parastatal, it becomes reassuring. Within one year; his achievements speaks volume. To Ohamadike, everyday is usually like judgment day, in which he gives account of his works and aim to improve and develop the country’s inland waterways
Indeed, Chief Dr. George Nnadubem Moghalu (Ohamadike), is offering himself to serve justly and not to be served. With Ohamadike, that tall and equitable man from Nnewi; a new dawn and visitation is coming our way.
"Anambra ga-adikwa mma ozo".
It shall be well with Anambra State.
