With the directives of President Muhammadu Buhari and in-line with section 121 (3) of the 1999 constitution of Nigeria, as amended and Executive Order 10 mandates all the 36 states governors to Implement fully the financial autonomy for state legislators since 2018.
Today, Sen Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo state took it upon himself to show examplary leadership by Implementing 100 percent financial autonomy for Imo State House of Assembly . This is Victory for Democracy.
By this , Imo State House of Assembly are now to be paid directly for the benefit of the legislators and the management of the House.
This also allows the State Houses of Assembly to operate like the National Assembly, because the National Assembly does not get its budget from the Executive.”
