My fellow youths. Greatest Imo Youths. The first among equals. I bring you tidings of peace.
Tidings to appeal to our consciences, as to pause and ponder over our current situations and where they will lead us to in the future.
Today, I ask my fellow youths: who is going to benefit from the destruction of our institutions, that were established to secure our people?
Five decades after the civil war, our parents toiled and managed to make meaningful progresses from the ruins of the war; why destroy those had earned little infrastructural developments?
The peaceful nature we are known for, has become a scarce commodity. The aged are in panics, our children are confused and in fears. I ask again, to what end are we bent on destroying our land?
The issue of marginalization and nepotism are well established facts, against the Igbo in today's Nigeria. No doubts!
However, our victory must not come in turning against our collective future, but our victory will come through consistent and constructive negotiations and re-negotiations that must take place.
The memories of the forebears, will not and must not be revisited through violence. With one voice we shall demand for equity. Be rest assured that we cannot achieve the said equity, by wielding AK-47 in our streets.
Let's resolve to tow the path of peaceful negotiations, to protect our land, heritage and restore the eluded peace in our land.
What we have been seeing in the streets of Imo, cannot be a possible path to equity and justice.
SAY NO TO VIOLENCE!
