A members of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) prepare for their congresses in Ebonyi State, a chairmanship aspirant, Alhaji (Dr) Haroun Ajah, has that said he would enthrone real transparency and internal democracy in the party, if he emerges victorious.
He said the current party’s administration in the nation’s democracy had been characterized by impunity and disregard for due process, but, as a religious cleric of impeccable character, he would engender transparency in the running of APC in the state.
Ajah made the pledge when he spoke to Orient daily on his manifesto for the party.
“We will develop and enhance policies that promote transparency in party administration right from the ward level which is the smallest unit of party politics.
“Every eligible member of the party that has met the requisite standards to contest for any election, will have access to nomination forms on demand. Under our leadership, nobody irrespective of social status, religious inclination or ethnic group, will be denied the chance to buy nomination forms.
“There will be an egalitarian process where decisions agreed upon by stakeholders on mode of conduct of primaries will be respected irrespective of whose ox is gored.
“We will digitalize the registration and mobilization process. Statistics of such exercises will be uploaded on a digital platform for accurate verification and evaluation. Screening for all aspirants will be done publicly and whoever falls short of the requirements will be left with no option than to appreciate the transparent process,” he said.
Alhaji Ajah, who was formerly a governorship aspirant and erstwhile state secretary of the APC, also promised to enthrone accountability in the party under his stewardship.
“As a former state secretary of ANPP; one of the parties that merged to form APC, I am adept in the prudent management of party resources. There will be periodic audits of party finances by external auditors.
“Every single fund that comes into the party will be accounted for. The ward and local govt leadership of the party will also be encouraged to publish audited accounts of the party under their watch”, he said.
