The governor made the revelation on Wednesday 16/6/21 during a solidarity visit to Douglas House by people of Owerri North LGA. According to the Governor the humongous project which has been undergoing rehabilitation will gainfully engage over 3,000 unemployed youths.
The governor of the state however, lamented on the state of imo state revenue especially the weight of 197 billion naira debt profile which Rochas administration left behind. He said because of the huge debt, Imo state government cannot borrow beyond 10million naira from any bank.
On the security challenges in the state, Uzodinma said it was orchestrated by disgruntled Politicans who wants to stop the implementation of of the government white paper and restoration of the original master plan. He then urged the traditional rulers to be proactive in ensuring that they get rid of miscreants in their domain through the Community vigilantes.
On the renewed peace among Political leaders in the LGA, Senator Hope Uzodinma expressed happiness that leaders of Owerri North has resolved to work in peace. He said Political tussle are common in places where there are a lot of Political juggernauts gladiators and Political awareness. He also eulogized the Political leadership of Prince Lemmy Akakem Okpataozuoha in local government.
Speaking, the leader of delegation Prince Lemmy Akakem Okpataozuoha, said they are at government house like others in solidarity to the Governor, and to further thank him for the good work he is doing in the state. Also speaking, the veteran football administrator gave analogy of a coach recruiting good players from other teams to beef up his squad in readiness for competition. He assured the governor of the loyalty and complete support of people of Owerri North.
In the address read by Prof. Henry Njoku, he presented to the governor, Owerri North wish list, prominent among them, road reconstruction and upgrading other critical infrastructure in line with the speed of urbanization in the LGA.
In his speech, Chief Henry Njoku Harritex, assured the governor that the support of Owerri North is ironclad. He also requested for the rehabilitation of some specific roads in the LGA. Prince Alex Mbata ABM Global, in his contribution, announced an empowerment scheme for 1000 unemployed youths in Owerri north, with a firm promise to extend same to Owerri zone.
Other leaders who spoke in the same vain includes Barrister Chima Anozie Homebase, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, Engr. Lams Ibe IMC Chairman Owerri North LGA, Eze David Akujobi Osuagwu, Oshimiri of Awaka and Dr. Julie Onyeukwu, chairperson civil service commission.
The people of Owerri North turned out in their numbers, the traditional rulers, Presidents General of Autonomous Community, women and youth leaders, Political class and non indigenes living in Owerri north.
