The Solidarity Visit To Imo State Governor By Ikeduru People

It was a remarkable day as critical leaders of Ikeduru LGA visited Senator Hope Uzodinma, Executive Governor of Imo State on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. Irrespective of political party affiliation, the  leaders gathered at Sam Mbakwe Executive Chambers on a show of solidarity to the Governor.

Chief (Dr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo, an illustrious son of Ikeduru LGA led his people to the governor. In his speech, Chief Iwuanyanwu thanked God for the gift of Senator Hope Uzodinma as governor of the state, and further said he has no doubt in his mind that Senator Uzodinma will lead the state to enviable heights.

His words:  "Imo should be grateful to our Governor. I am grateful and proud. To every human being there is a day to remember. I want to say it clearly to every Ikeduru son, to every Ikeduru daughter, this is a day to remember. Senator Hope Uzodimma is one of those that I will celebrate. He has shown loyalty, he has shown love, and he has also shown respect. Democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people. A good leader needs to interface by calling the people to come to this type of town hall meeting. If you read the history of Ancient Greece you will see it. Imo should be grateful to our Governor. I am grateful and proud. Your excellency, you gave us a deputy governor in the person of Prof. Placid Njoku. We will ever remain grateful to you. Please extend our warm regards to your amiable wife, Barr. Chioma Uzodinma, the first lady of Imo State"

An illustrious son of Ikeduru LGA, Dr. Uzoma Obiyo, in his remarks, thanked the governor for the provision of quality infrastructure in all nooks and crannies of the state. He thanked him especially for the reconstruction of Owerri - Okigwe road which has greatly eased movement of Ikeduru people to and fro Imo State capital and its environs.

Dr. Obiyo, himself a very close ally to the governor and a founding member of the ruling  party, prayed the governor to look into the issue of imposition of party officers in Ikeduru LGA Chapter of APC. because, "only an inclusive party executive will guarantee victory for the party in subsequent elections."

Dr. Obiyo equally prayed the governor to attend to the vexatious issue of imposition of President Generals, Women and Youth Leaders in various autonomous communities in Ikeduru LGA, maintaining that an easy way a government can earn the trust and support of the rural populace, apart from provision of democratic dividends, is through participatory governance. He then appealed to the governor to allow each autonomous community in Ikeduru LGA to elect or select, as the case may be, their community leaders.

Responding, Imo Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma harped on the need for peace and unity in Ikeduru LGA especially their leaders, noting that peace and growth are intricately linked like a man and his shadow.

Enjoining them to speedily close ranks, the Governor revealed that Ikeduru LGA, in human capital development, arguably rates first in the entire Imo, and that this should tell.

The Imo Governor assured Ikeduru people that soon, oil deposits in their area will be harnessed to commercial level, and that this, as soon as it is done, would add them in the commity of oil producing local government, with its attendant benefits.

Notable leaders that were on the delegation include; H.E, Prof. Placid Njoku, Deputy Governor of the state, Chief. Charles Amadi, Chief Tony Iwuamadi (IMC Chairman, Ikeduru LGA), Chief Sam Aka, Dr. Teddy Oguike, Prof Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, Chief Jude Opara (Shapume), Chief (Mrs) Clara Njoku, Mrs Cherril Amonu, Prof. (Mrs) Edna  Njoku, all the traditional Rulers from Ikeduru LGA and a host other leaders.
