Appraising Governor Umahi's projects in Ebonyi State, one will agree with me that the Governor is not just building for today's generation; he is equally building for the future. This is what I prefer to call developmental futurialism in my caption and this is because the infrastructures, particularly the roads, the flyovers, the traffic light, international stadium and the international airport are so amazingly structured to accommodate future population explosion in the state both of citizens and other dwellers.
Folks who still dwell in the antiquated reasoning of the yore days, publicly and ridiculously challenge the Governor to a debate on the "irrelevance" of double lanes, flyovers, traffic light, the international airport, the international stadium, etc in present day Ebonyi State, hinging their anachronism on the flawed logic that there are no traffic congestions anywhere in Ebonyi State at present, including the capital city to warrant such infrastructures, hence, infrastructures of such magnitudes were "superfluous" even the international airport and the international stadium. For such antediluvial forces who also align themselves with retrogressivism, Governor Umahi should wait for such a time when Ebonyi State becomes like the old Oshodi in Lagos; thickly populated, congested and filthy with consequent human and vehicular collision before a solution can become expedient. They do not know that by then, many would have died due to road traffic accidents and many pedestrians would have equally lost money and other belongings to criminals in the congested milieu. The logic is indeed flawed on arrival and stands totally repudiated.
What such conservatives should understand is that Governor Umahi is not only proactive in security matters; he is also proactive in other matters and indeed in everything. In his wisdom, the Governor envisages an Ebonyi State which will soon become a global tourist destination and a global economic hub. It is for this reason that he applies the professionalism as a thoroughbred Enginner in the futuristic infrastructural development of the State thereby making things easier for our future generation of leaders and citizens alike, including visitors to the state in time to come.
No nation develops without building critical infrastructures.
So, as we look back on six eventful years of Governor Umahi's action-packed administration in Ebonyi State, let it be placed on record that Ebonyi State has a leader who is forthright and foresighted; and who brings his wisdom and dynamism to bear on the leadership of his people, executing projects for the present and for the future, earning prestigious awards with the latest being the Champion Newspaper Award of the Best Governor in Infrastructural Development.
The benefits of these laudable infrastructural bliss, dotting Ebonyi State left, right and centre, shall be harvested by successive administrations and collectively enjoyed by Ebonyians. This is why all good hands must be on deck in prayers for God to lead our Governor in choosing a good successor that will sustain the tempo of the Akubaraoha developmental drive and take our dear state beyond the lofty heights it has attained under Governor Umahi as the 2023 general election draws nearer.
