IRI JI MBAISE: GOV UZODIMMA CELEBRATES WITH MBAISE PEOPLE ~SAYS IRI JI MBAISE IS A RICH CULTURE OF INESTIMABLE VALUE



It was a beehive of activities over the weekend as the people of Mbaise celebrated her New Yam Festival, "Iri ji".

The Iri ji Festival has been of great significance to Mbaise people over the years as it ushers in the new harvest season . 

Gov. Hope Uzodimma ably represented by his deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku was among the notable political leaders who attended the event. 


Speaking on behalf of Gov. Hope Uzodimma, Prof. Placid Njoku said that Mbaise has a rich culture of inestimable value as it has continued to project the Igbo culture beyond the continent of Africa. 


Prof. Placid Njoku noted that Iri ji Mbaise remains a festival of significance and beacon of hope to the culture of Igbo people to date 


"There is no other way to describe this age long Iri ji Mbaise Cultural Festival other than that of practical example of the doggedness of the average Igbos in food production, says Prof. Pacid Njoku.


On the sidelines of the Iri ji Festival was the  cutting of roasted yams, officiated by His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma and thereafter, served to guests present at the occasion.


Other notable leaders who accompanied Prof. Placid Njoku to represent Gov. Hope Uzodimma are: Hon. Nzeruo John Nkenna, Hon. Uche Agabige and a retinue of appointees.
