OWERRI MUNICIPAL NON-INDIGENES DEFY HEAVY RAIN TO DEMAND FOR EMANCIPATION.. ...As Sir. Lawrence , Hon. Onyekachi et al calls for calm

Indeed it was a show of immense disappointment and heartache as non indigenes in the seven non-indigenous wards in Owerri Municipal turned out in large numbers to demand at Ikenegbu girls secondary school a halt to the encroachment of indigenes into the political structure of non indigenous wards .

The growing bitterness according to the massive majority of non indigenes who defied heavy rains to attend the solidarity meeting comes from the recent case of the clandestine manner some indigenous personalities in Owerri Municipal tried to steal the political structure of two of the most populated non indigenous wards in Owerri Municipal( Aladinma 1 and 2 ). Non indigenous personalities like Chris Onyenwe , Chief Eric Ihentuge , Hon. Esther Kamalu , Barr. Ifeanyi Dike , ward Chairmen , women Leaders and youth Leaders , echoed in unison that the continued destabilization of the verbal agreement between indigenes and non indigenes of the municipality will give birth to nothing but a breakdown of political order in the municipality.

President of Non-Indigenes Association , Sir. Lawrence Okoye while calling for calm though on angry deaf ears , said the issue concerning the continued defiance of the political arrangement between indigenes and non indigenes is being heavily debated and grievances have been communicated to the appropriate authorities . He said series of round table conversation have been had and positive outcome is expected at the end of the day. He acknowledged that the average Owerre Nchi ise Man abhors rancor and segregation and that the attitude of few ill willed persons will not change the positive and welcoming attitude of a greater majority.

The APC Chairman of Owerri Municipal , Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim who attended the meeting asked aggrieved members who attended the meeting to go home and work for the longevity of the party as whatever have necessitated the outcry have been sorted and dealt with . He said the Leadership of the party on top of the situation and the matter will be resolved permanently.

The Chairman admitted that it is in the DNA of a typical Owerri Man to be accommodative and indeed there are good indigenous personalities who have not changed from their character traits and so every clamor for rancor should be jettisoned and step made to help the Governor Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma realize his vision for the state especially for the municipality.
