A BILL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE OKIGWE SPONSORED BY HON PRINCESS MIRIAM ONUOHA PASSES FIRST READING

A call for the establishment of new Federal Medical Centre in Okigwe North Federal Constituency of Imo State, is gaining strong legislative ground as Hon Princess Miriam Onuoha has moved the motion, sponsored the bill to that effect, which passes first reading today.

Today, Tuesday 21st September, 2021,  Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha, member representing Okigwe North Federal Constituency, moved a motion, which passed its first reading, praying for the establishment of Federal Medical Centre, Okigwe.

Note that Okigwe being one of the places ravaged by the covid 19 pandemic, it is in a strategic location. Establishing the Federal Medical Centre Okigwe will immensely cater for patients not only from Okigwe but also Okigwe zone and Imo State in general.

Adding that, the establishment will also create job opportunities to the good people of Okigwe and its environs.

Concerned that the distance to Owerri municipal and the deplorable condition of the road cause untold hardship and unnecessary delay to patients in dire need of medical attention, resulting to lost of lives in transit while trying to reach to Owerri for emergency medical situations.

Hon. Onuoha's Bill is contained in the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Order Paper, Bill No. 3, Federal Medical Centre, Okigwe (Establishment) Bill, 2021.(HB 1603)..(Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha)- First Reading.
