In line with the LGA party's resolve to embark on aggressive mobilization of members into the APC family , the Leadership of Owerri Municipal APC took into her arsenal more than 200 PDP defectors , who believe in the ideology of the party and the visionary leadership skills of Dist.Sen. Hope Uzodinma .
The earth shaking event which took place in one of the wards in Owerri Municipal (New ward II), saw the Municipal Party Chairman-elect , Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim thank the defectors for leaving the leaking and abandoned umbrella and joining in solidarity to hold fast to the broom of progress . He added that the APC is big enough to accommodate anyone who believes in the party's vision of ensuring that it produces visionaries that will galvanize and at the same time bring about infrastructural and economic growth of the Nation .
Adding weight to the remarks of the APC Chairman-elect , the Apex Leader of APC in Owerri Municipal and GM of IMO ENTRACO , Hon.Dr. MacDonald Ebere expressed happiness over the significant exploits of the party in the Municipality . He said that Owerri Municipal APC through massive political evangelism, door-to-door campaign and emergence of capable party executives at the ward and LGA level, have yielded it's first fruit of defectors into the party's ranks .
Hon. MacDonald went further to say that the best is yet to come as another round of the highly anticipated and result oriented ward tour is around the corner . He concluded by saying that the total collapse of all other political parties in Owerri Municipal is eminent and so welcomed the defectors into the APC , while using the same opportunity to ask aggrieved members who are perhaps looking for means to leave , to come to a table of dialogue and remain in the party .

Highpoint of the event is the handing over of the over 200 defectors to the LGA and state leadership of the APC present and this was anchored by the ward chairman of New Owerri ward II , Mr. Maxwell Onyegbule.
