My senatorial ambition was not hinged on the national chairmanship of Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura. Never!!
I had no choice but to support Senator Almakura because I had previously worked with him in 2013; when both of us were members of the defunct CPC Merger and Alliance Committee.
Senator Almakura is a great Nigerian, a good administrator, businessman par excellence, broadminded, fair-minded, and intelligent.
I supported him because of these virtues I saw in him which I believe he would have brought to bear on our Party leadership.
I never supported him because I believed that he would hand over the ticket to me on a platter of gold. I believe we will collectively get the ticket if work for it.
We have earned the confidence and goodwill of the people and if the process is fair we should get it.
I started the campaign in March 2021 when Young people from our district encouraged me to step into the area because they believe in me.
I also believe that I have all the ingredients that a representative of the people should possess and accordingly I accept the gauntlet and have been resolutely pushing since March 2021 to engender, rekindle and gain the confidence of the people.
Senator Almakura's campaign only started in October 2021 or thereabout.
I supported his aspiration to the hilt because I fervently believe he was the best for our dear Party at this point in time.
However, the Leader of the Party for whatever reason(s) chose Senator Abdullahi Adamu, I don’t have any qualm about that.
I bow to his choice and the endorsement of members of the Party.
Congratulations to Senator Abdullahi and members of the National executive committee.
I believe Senator Abdullahi Adamu a politician and statesman with many years of experience will revitalize the party and position it to win the 2023 general election.
I believe that the Party will give everybody that aspire for elective leadership under its canopy an opportunity to contest fairly and justly in accordance with the dictates of the Electoral Act, the APC constitution, and its guidelines.
I pray that we all have hope, faith, and conviction. Let us continue to be unflinching and resolute.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you”.
