In addressing issues of healthcare delivery in Rivers State, RT. HON CHIBUIKE AMAECHI'S administration built and equiped over 110 health centres located in nearly all the wards in the State. He also built referral facilities in Port Harcourt – Prof. Kelsey Harrison Hospital and Dental-Maxillo Facial Hospital. AMAECHI also employed 200 Medical Doctors and 400 Nurses to man the Hospitals and Health centres. He also gave Free medical services to people above 60 years and children. Antenatal was also Free at Health centres and Rivers State owned Hospitals.
On human capacity building, AMAECHI sent thousands of Rivers State Youth to Canada, Australia Germany, United Kingdom, USA etc on scholarship to study sophisticated courses and acquire modern Skills, degrees and Certifications. Amaechi also established Skill Acquisition Centers in Rivers State.
The children in Yoruba land, Hausa/ Fulani Land, Igboland and every part of Nigeria who have no opportunity go to school, it matters to Amaechi. The women and men including the sick who cannot afford malaria and routine drugs, it matters to CRA. The unemployed and underemployed graduates in Nigeria gives CRA a serious concern.
For 22 years, AMAECHI had been in the service of Nigeria. First as Speaker Of Rivers State House Of Assembly, second as Governor of Rivers State and now Minister Of Transportation. In the last 22 years, CRA had traveled to nearly every State and got abreast and acquainted with the problems and challenges of Nigeria. He has developed an IMAGE of NIGERIA as fulfilling a noble and historic role as the defender of the dispossessed, downtrodden and less-privileged when it was not fashionable to do so.
