OUR VOTES ARE FOR GOVERNOR HOPE UZODIMMA; PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES DECLARED SUPPORT FOR IMO STATE GOVERNOR.
In just about three weeks to the governorship election in Imo State, a group of physically challenged persons and people with disabilities have declared total support for the re-election bid of Governor Hope Uzodimma. Led by leaders of associations of different physically challenged groups and people with disabilities in the state, the group pointed out that the governor has greatly empowered them and restored their dignity since his emergence as the governor. They appreciated the fact that they are no longer living like beggers, second class or third class citizens in the state but as an important and integral part of the society contributing to the economic and financial prosperity of the state. This they believed was made possible due to the numerous doors of opportunities the governor opened for the physically challenged and people with disabilities in the state.
It would be recalled that the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Imo State chapter have always been in solidarity with the governor whom they referred to as a blessing to them. They gave credence to the fact that they are being treated as critical part and stakeholders in his administration rather than being discriminated upon. They added that it's under the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma that they are able to find their rightful place in the society. They appreciated the governor for seeing abilities in them beyond their physical disabilities.
The group leaders appraised the achievements of Governor Hope Uzodimma in areas of security, economic growth, health, education, infrastructure among others with respect to considering the plights of people with disabilities in the planning and implemention process of his policies, programmes.and projects. In the past, projects in the state have been implemented without consideration for the physically challenged thereby posing a great challenge to the utilisation or accessing of such projects. In Imo State today,.the physically challenged can access many projects of the governor just because proper priority has been given to people with disabilities in the planning and implemention stages of such projects.
In his response, Governor Hope Uzodimma promised the physically challenged and people with disabilities in the state that his second tenure is to consolidate on the priority and attention his government has been given them. He assured them that they will continue to be partners in his administration for the overall benefit of the state because he has total trust in their abilities and ideas.
