 *EDO-APC DIASPORA COUNCIL DG, Arrives Nigeria for Governorship Primaries and Engages Party National Stakeholders.* 

The Director-General of Edo APC Diaspora Council, *Prof Legend Asuelime, and some of his *team* arrive in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday, 15 February 2024 - for the party's gubernatorial primary. 

Apart from the above, the loss of the state by the APC in 2020 was attributed to various reasons, including the support and sympathy of some Progressive leaders within the party, including many from South West and South South,  governors, former governors, lawmakers and Business moguls alike who were Godwin Obaseki networks and friends within the APC. 

To prevent a repeat of this, the Diaspora Council leadership is leveraging their national networks to ensure that whoever emerges as the APC candidate in Edo State receives support and prevents any interference from previous connections

As the DG, Legend Asuelime PhD, has said, "for those grounded in 21st century realpolitik, and do a proper SWOT analysis on the last gubernatorial election in Edo, aside from the non-purposive inclusion of Diaspora Strategy to control public opinion towards driving votes and other lapses in Edo APC campaign grand strategy, if any, Godwin Obaseki's influence within the APC family as a former APC Governor was also a factor for APC Failure in the state. Therefore, that umblica cord needs deconstruction and dismantling wherever they exist. "

The goal is to cement the process of severing and cutting the umbilical cords of Godwin Obaseki and key APC stalwarts at the National Level who may have explicit and implicit interest in the state and its governance.

Following their continuous engagement, the DG and his team will head to Edo State to actively participate in the primaries and selection of the best candidate for the APC. The candidate with the majority of votes from the direct primaries, which will be cast by party members from all wards and local governments in Edo State, will be considered the best candidate.

While there are 12 aspirants heading towards the primaries on saturday, only  one candidate can be selected per time. The ultimate goal is for everyone to work together and support the chosen candidate, as their government will be a collective effort.
