 *IMO ASSEMBLY APPRECIATES GOVERNOR UZODIMMA FOR FACILITATING A-3DAY CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR LAWMAKERS* 





It was Joy unspeakable as the Imo State House Of Assembly commended the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, in appreciation for facilitating the recently concluded 3-Day Capacity Building Workshop for the 27 lawmakers at the prestigious National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Abuja.


This was as a result of the Motion moved by the Member Representing Oguta State Constituency, Hon Engr Gilbert Chiedozie Nwosu, who expressed joy, happiness, satisfaction and in appreciation to the People's Governor for his foresight to further equip them with the necessary legislative skills and knowledge through the enriching training and research of International best practices received at the Capacity Building Workshop at Abuja.


According to Hon Gilbert Nwosu, the Governor was impressed by the quality of legislation in the last one year of the 10th House, 3rd Assembly, and in the bid to encourage them , as lawmakers, facilitated and sponsored the training to enhance their capacity in their legislative duties and responsibilities to the people of the state.


In his words, the only voice from Oguta State Constituency said, *"We are all witnesses to the fact that during the workshop, sponsored by the Governor, our eyes were opened to the deeper functions of legislators. The Governor, being a seasoned and distinguished lawmaker, understood good legislative process, democratic principles for effective discharge of our legislative duties and responsibilities. The workshop was not only timely but beneficial to all of us, participants, for fortified knowledge of the legislative process for effective and efficient lawmaking, budgeting and oversight, for the good people of Imo State ".*


While further thanking the Governor for the gift of Legislative Capacity Building to perform better in the Second Session Of the 10th House, Hon Gilbert Nwosu thereafter called on his Honourable Colleagues to support the Motion. The Motion which was seconded by the Chief Whip and Member Representing Oru-east State Constituency, Hon Chigozie Nwaneri, was co-sponsored by 8 Honourable Members as follows :


1. Rt Hon Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu.


2. Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi.


3. Hon Chigozie Nwaneri.


4. Hon Francis Uzoma Osuoha.


5. Rt Hon Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh.


6. Hon Sam Ikechukwu Osuji.


7. Hon Obinna Egu.


8. Hon Ikenna Ihezuo.


In solidarity with the Chief Sponsor of the Motion, the following lawmakers made substantial contributions :

3. Hon Ozioma Benneth Worship Ebonine (Njaba).

In their individual submissions, while appreciating the Governor for his kind gesture, they described the Motion as apt, timely and very worthy, and at the same time thanked the Chief Sponsor for his sensitivity. They also explained that the workshop training in Abuja made it possible for them to be more bonded as lawmakers, and become more exposed and equipped to face their legislative duties and responsibilities. They finally appreciated the Clerk, Chinelo Adaora Emeghara, Esq,  and her team for the coordination of the exercise.


In the absence of any dissenting opinion, and satisfied with the contributions of the Honourable Members, the Speaker of Imo State House Of Assembly, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe, put it to vote and it was unanimously adopted. Thereafter, he Ruled as follows :

 

* *"Be It Resolved By This Honourable House To Express Our Gratitude To His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma For His Vision, Pragmatic Leadership, Generosity And Resources In Sponsoring This Significant And Eventful Capacity Building Programme For The Legislators".* 


The Clerk was thereafter directed to communicate the Resolution of the House to His Excellency the Governor.
